Home sweet home!

We have arrived safely back to our little corner of the world. We had a fantastic time away, but we're glad to be home.

Echo was particularly pleased to see us, and has been on her best behaviour since - just in case we disappear again! Even the cows were glad we were home - although we suspect this may be because they want food handouts.

Now we're back there won't be as many blog updates - but I will still add things from time to time, keeping you all up to date with our goings-on. So don't lose the address just yet!

Off to chop some wood now as the cold winter starts to set in.....

Give me a go no go for launch

We arrived in Orlando to beautiful sunshine, 30+ temperatures and high humidity. Shorts weather!!

Whilst here we visited both the Universal Studios parks (sadly Harry Potter world has not yet opened).

We also spent a day at the Kennedy Space Center. It was cool! We met an Apollo 15 astronaut, experienced a launch simulator and toured the facilities.

Back to LA now before our flight back to Aus.

Visiting President Obama

We spent a couple of days in Washington DC. It's nice and clean. And sunny.

See the white speck in the distance? This is as close as we could get to the White House because the first lady was hanging out on her balcony. Fortunately John has great zoom on his camera!

We had a look through some of the Smithsonian museums and the National Archives. Highlights being Kermit the frog, Mr Lincoln's hat, Julia Child's kitchen, the Declaration of Independance and the entire Air & Space museum - more on that one later.

After this we visited all the monuments (yes, we walked miles and miles).



This probably looks familiar to most. Or at least anyone who has seen Forrest Gump.



Mr Lincoln was there too.

So after seeing the Spirit of St Louis, the Wright Flyer, the Bell X-1 and Amelia Earhart's plane in the Air & Space museum on the mall, we headed way way out of town to the other, larger, wing of the museum. It will come as no surprise to our readers that John and I were like kids in a candy store. It was awesome!!



There was a Concorde, a Connie, the Enola Gay, a space shuttle, a Blackbird (aka Jetfire from Transformers 2), an F14 Tomcat and many many many others!! This place was enormous!

I've got to be a part of it, New York, New York!

We arrived in the big apple under a band of rain, so our first day here was rather dreary. Not that it stopped us:

Thankfully the weather improved, and we spent the next few days seeing the sights without the mist!




We also saw Avenue Q and Jersey Boys on Broadway, and undertook a tour of
many many different filming locations. These might look familiar:

Apparently our hotel is the hotel at which Borat stayed... Not sure if that is a good thing!

Spent some time at Niagara falls today - viewing it from both the American side and the Canadian side.
